A stilt house out in the Leonida wetlands

GTA 6 takes place in the State of Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida, with Vice City as its main city. Rockstar has named six regions so far, each with its own page in our locations wiki. The full map won’t be official until launch, so treat fan-made maps as guesses.

The six confirmed regions

Region What it is
Vice City The neon-lit, Miami-inspired city at the heart of the map
Leonida Keys A chain of islands and beaches, inspired by the Florida Keys
Grassrivers Wild wetlands and swamp, inspired by the Everglades
Port Gellhorn A faded beach and port town
Ambrosia A smaller, industrial inland town
Mount Kalaga National-park country: forests, trails and hills

Who you play

You play two leads, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval: a criminal couple whose story runs across Leonida. Lucia is the first female lead in a mainline GTA since the series went 3D.

How big is the map?

Rockstar hasn’t given a size. Trailers and official screenshots show a far denser, more varied world than GTA 5’s Los Santos and Blaine County. We’ll compare properly once the game is out.

FAQ

Is GTA 6 set in Vice City?

Yes, and in the wider state of Leonida around it. Vice City is the main urban area.

Are there other cities besides Vice City?

Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia are smaller towns. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed a second major city.

Can you explore the whole map from the start?

Not confirmed. Earlier GTA games locked some areas early on. We’ll update this after launch.
