GTA 6 is expected to unlock at 00:00 local time on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. As of October 13, 2026, Rockstar has not announced an official unlock hour; the midnight figure comes from PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings and from how Rockstar’s last launches worked. We’ll update this post the moment Rockstar confirms.
Unlock time by region
If the midnight-local pattern holds, every region unlocks at the same clock time on its own November 19. The table shows what that means and who gets it first.
| Region | Unlock (local) | Equivalent in UTC |
|---|---|---|
| New Zealand (NZDT) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 18, 11:00 |
| Australia, Sydney (AEDT) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 18, 13:00 |
| Japan / Korea (JST/KST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 18, 15:00 |
| India (IST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 18, 18:30 |
| Central Europe (CET) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 18, 23:00 |
| UK / Ireland (GMT) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 00:00 |
| Brazil, São Paulo (BRT) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 03:00 |
| US East (EST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 05:00 |
| US Central (CST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 06:00 |
| US Pacific (PST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 08:00 |
| Hawaii (HST) | Nov 19, 00:00 | Nov 19, 10:00 |
New Zealand plays first, roughly 23 hours before Hawaii. The countdown on our home page uses your device’s local midnight.
What if Rockstar picks a single global time?
Some publishers unlock worldwide at one moment instead. If Rockstar does that, this table changes and we’ll replace it. Until then, treat midnight local as the plan and check your console’s store page on launch day; it shows the exact unlock for your account’s region.
The region trick
In past launches, players set their PlayStation or Xbox account region to New Zealand to unlock games up to a day early. It has worked for some Rockstar titles and not others, and it can break pre-orders, DLC codes and the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus tied to your original store region. We don’t recommend it for a $79.99 game. Pre-load from November 12 instead so you’re playing the second it unlocks; steps in How to pre-load GTA 6.
Before the clock hits zero
- Pre-load is done and the game shows Ready to play (not just downloaded) on your console.
- Console system software is updated.
- Rest mode is on so a day-one patch installs overnight.

FAQ
What time does GTA 6 come out?
Expected at 00:00 local time on November 19, 2026, based on store listings. Rockstar has not confirmed the hour yet.
Does GTA 6 unlock at the same time everywhere?
Not if the midnight-local pattern holds. Each region unlocks at its own midnight, so New Zealand and Australia play about a day before the US West Coast.
Can I play GTA 6 early by changing my console region?
Sometimes it works, but it risks your pre-order bonus, DLC and purchases tied to your region. Not worth it.
When does GTA 6 pre-load start?
November 12, 2026, at local midnight for digital pre-orders, as reported. See our pre-load guide.
