GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: Is It 60 FPS? What's Confirmed

GTA 6 carries Sony’s “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label, but as of October 13, 2026, no 60 fps mode is confirmed on either PS5 or PS5 Pro. Rockstar’s Rob Nelson has said console builds ran at 30 fps during development; anything about a 60 fps or 40 fps mode is a leak or an estimate.

Confirmed vs rumor

Claim	Status
PS5 Pro Enhanced label on the store	Confirmed
4K output on PS5 Pro	Likely, not confirmed
60 fps performance mode	Rumor
40 fps mode on 120 Hz displays	Rumor
Ray tracing improvements on Pro	Rumor
30 fps on base PS5	Reported from development builds

What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” actually means

The label only requires one of: a higher resolution, a higher frame rate, or added ray-tracing effects compared with the base PS5. It does not promise 60 fps. Many Pro Enhanced games run at 30 fps with better image quality.

Why 60 fps is in doubt

The PS5 Pro’s GPU is much faster, but its CPU is nearly the same Zen 2 chip as the base PS5 with a small clock bump. Open-world games with dense traffic and crowds are CPU-heavy, which is why analysts like Digital Foundry are cautious. A 40 fps mode is the more realistic middle ground, but it is not announced.

Should you buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6?

Not on the basis of frame rate; nothing is confirmed. If you already want a Pro for other games, GTA 6 will look sharper on it. If you’re buying only for GTA 6, wait until Rockstar or Digital Foundry publish real numbers after launch.
