Controller tester
Does your controller drift?
Connect your PS5 or Xbox controller, let go of the sticks and see how far they rest from the centre. Check it now, not at midnight on November 19.
Connect your controller (USB or Bluetooth) and press any button.
Your controller doesn't use the standard layout, so some buttons may show in the wrong place.

Browsers read raw stick values; consoles add their own deadzone, so treat this as a guide.
If a stick drifts
- Update the controller. PS5: Settings → Accessories → Controllers. Xbox: the Xbox Accessories app. Then test again.
- Clean around the stick. A short burst of compressed air around the base while you rotate it can clear dust.
- Replace it before launch. Still over 5%? Get a new controller in time, along with the rest of our launch checklist.
FAQ
How do I test my controller for stick drift?
Connect it by USB or Bluetooth and press any button so the browser can see it. Tap Test for drift and let go of both sticks: the tester reads them for 3 seconds and shows how far each one rests from the centre.
What drift % is bad?
Up to 5% is clean. 5–15% is light drift that most games' deadzones hide. Over 15% is likely noticeable in GTA 6: the camera or your character creeps on its own.
Does it work with a PS5 controller on PC or phone?
Yes, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Plug the DualSense in by USB or pair it over Bluetooth on your computer, Android phone, iPhone or iPad, then press a button. Xbox controllers work the same way.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the controller on this page only. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere, and there is no sign-up.
